Published guidance from a government mission lists: your original national ID or 17-digit birth registration certificate, a printout of the online application form with its barcode, your existing passport if you have one, proof of address, and a marriage or divorce certificate if your marital status has changed.

With a birth certificate the seventeen digits matter. Older handwritten certificates can carry a shorter number and are not in the online system — in that case you first need the record digitised at the local registrar’s office.

If the previous passport is lost, the guidance says a police report takes its place. The loss has to be formally on record, so reporting it to a police station without delay is the sensible course.

Children under six are exempt from biometrics but must still attend in person, with a photograph. ⚠️ The document list varies somewhat with where you apply, so check the guidance of the office or mission that will handle your case.
