How do you collect a finished passport?

You normally collect it yourself. Government mission guidance says an email is sent when the passport is ready, to the address used to create the user ID, after which you attend within the stated hours to collect it.

You must bring the original delivery slip; it is required. Which is why the slip handed to you at the appointment should be kept as an important document rather than treated as a disposable receipt.

Collection hours are fixed and can differ between offices and missions. They are stated in the email or the office’s own guidance — check before travelling, or you may make the journey for nothing.

Check the data page as soon as you receive it — spelling, date of birth, validity and photograph. Raising an error there and then is by far the easiest; discovering it later during a visa application makes correction slow and expensive. Check the spelling of your name against your national ID rather than against what looks right, since the passport is meant to reproduce the record, not improve on it.
